Hello all, I'm posting this to get the community's response... that and to add another thread to the ever-deserving series of Outlaw Star.

I'll skip the history lesson as in a recent thread of mine, and just ask it flat-out. At the end of Episode 26 there were several hints to a sequel and a few loose-ends that could have been patched up. And the universe the writers made was full and ready to be explored (I am referring to the miniature segments at the beginning of each episode, each with a small lesson or a part of the Outlaw Star universe in it). So- why wasn't it continued?! I've been hopping around forums and websites and have been getting a large response for people looking for season 2.

So here it lies: why do you think the series wasn't continued?

Hello and welcome to this thread. Allow me to start off- if you have not seen the Tenchi Muyo! series, do yourself a favor, head to youtube, and watch the first episode. If you're not hooked- well you will be so dont worry about that.

So you may be worrying about this thread, "Tenchi Muyo was an epic series, what things should have been 'unsaid'?". You'll agree if you saw the WHOLE series. Allow me to give you all a little background behind this awesome series, and how greed corrupts all good things.

In 1992-1993 a small-scale Anime by the name 'Tenchi Muyo' sent out a six episode OAV to the world, only in the aims to progress the work of a few Japanese artists and for a quick buck. But- the anime was too awesome, it became very popular, and the people wanted more, more MORE! So, a 7th episode (probably one of the most popular ones) was released to please them- but their hunger wasn't quelled!
In 1994-1995 this slightly larger scale anime gave out a second OAV, with episodes 8-13. All was right, the series was short, sweet, not too fast paced or boring, but had the perfect touches of humor, sex-appeal, action, along with great character design and artwork- the world was good. And although it was short, it was simply: good in its purest form. This bit of anime that made the world a bit better shipped off to televisions in America everywhere at July 3 2000, at about 6:00 on Toonami (y'know... before it tanked?)

THIS IS MY BEEF-

Some people decided, "Let's keep this gravy 'a rollin'!". Good for the community right? We loved it at first, and we wanted more! Well... see the third OAV and you'll know why I'm so upset.
In 2003-2005 the third OAV was released. It tanked. The voices we once beheld were replaced, the characters seemed to have changed, personality, artwork, among other things. It wasn't good, the quality of work that was shovelled out never would have caught on. That's not the worst part- time to spoil.

***********************SPOILER ALERT**********************

In the 'final' episode, "Final Confrontations" the series was ruined!
Tenchi's mother, whom he seemed to have such a real, touching relationship- was on a trip to Hawaii! A freaking vacation for 17 years! I'm not making this up- and she supposedly SCRIPTED all of everthing that happened to him, his encounters with these women, the stories of her death. And it even turns out that the *explitive deleted* writers even made Tenchi's mother to be a crazy old woman. That all? NO! Remember Kagato? The bada** who kicked butt in episodes 5&6, the terrifying dude who almost held infinite power... was a hermaphrodite! I have no idea where that fits in the long run but for some reason they threw that in! The last OAV ruined the whole thing... and I wanted some people to be warned before they got their hopes up like myself.

***********************SPOILERS OVER**********************

Now- I've complained my fair share, and I want to hear your opinions about this failure. I bear these questions:

1. What were YOUR thoughts on the 3rd and final OAV?
2. If it were up to you, would you release it, or destroy it?
3. According to you should the series:
a. continued to a large run series (e.g. Bleach, Naruto)
b. gone to another season or two, but ended well
c. ended at OAV 2 and let things lie.

I appreciate all of those who read and replied to this thread... and hope minitokyo doesn't stop this thread- THE PEOPLE MUST KNOW!

And remember, good anime never dies so long as it lives in the hearts of its fans.

...whew that was long!

Thank the good Lord! Even if for aesthetic means the site could use a few changes. I appreciate being notified and look forward to seeing how this new layout looks. You have my utmost gratitude and my sincerest wishes of luck and success.

*sigh* Drama. Not my strong suit. But what the hay-

Alrighty- to start things off- this is a brave thing to open up about this sort of thing. I also understand why you wouldn't want to be friends with the girl again. Well done.

-Emotional Part Over- reality will now occur

nicollover202 has a good idea- be direct. Dont go all about "look here, ya drunk idiot- yer life is a mess and you are bad news- leave me alone now!" Because I've tried that before- long story short you get slapped and the problem somehow doesn't leave. At the same time dont make it a flilbuster, "Well, we've been ever-such-good friends, and it tears a whole in my heart when I have to think about every waking moment we'll be apart but for the greater good we'll have to part...". That also does no good- it can even make it worse by giving some emotional leeway for them to wiggle back in (trust me, I've crushed many a relationship, dream, hope, and anything people hang on to- I know this pretty well).

Remember the definition of a 'friend' as well. She wasn't thinking thouroughly and lied to you, thats no good, and of course she wants to be in the group because she sees herself falling apart by this horrible act. She wants to identify herself as 'good' with you again, even after she has done wrong. I am unforgiving, and being a drunkard- IN SCHOOL NO LESS! is unforgivable- she must pay for her wrong doings. If you were to forgive her easily- she may recede to her bad habits, and worse, pull you down too.

My suggestion for it all (after all what I said before): have the drama die down. Mans Equation for Drama: Danger = Drama/Time x Severity of the event + Personal Relationship - People on your side. The time will be the biggest asset for lowering the drama, and you have numbers on your side. If the drama continues she will cry again, women do that, and it frustrates me. Time heals all wounds- and when they are healed you may slowly slink away after she finds a new group.

YOUR QUESTION ANSWERED: End it. After time let the drama die down, okay? Let the fresh wound heal and let her find her way from you. You don't have to be mean, time will pass. But one key thing is to remind her why it is wrong- she got drunk, in school, lied to you, and made a scene in homeroom (this sounds like Jr. High, so all the worse). She will move on when the time is right- but as for the question, 'I dont know how much longer I can take' dont let it drag on- and as painful as it may be for your friend, you may have to give her a cold shoulder, not mean, but let her know her actions were not the right and honorable ones.

I'm glad you let me respond, and suprised you made it this far in this post! Well done. I hope you recieve more advice from people who have had more experience with this sort of this thing. As for myself- I usually get a shot at their kidneys- they get hurt- they hit me- and we all have a good laugh about their idiocy later.

...women are some kinda mystery I tells ya...

TRUTH- this is what you need to know why we follow Christ. If it is not true, whats the point? But we know that this is true through faith and reason.

I'm more concerned that your friend believes in concrete evidence and DOESN'T BELIEVE, heres some questions I have for your friend.

1. How can you not believe the most historically concurrent documents the world knows of- the Gospels. There are no other documents that are so accurate to each other that span so long ago, that are authentic.

2. The bones of Christ were, and wont, ever be found. We know from science that matter is not destroyed, and doesnt dissapear like magic. Yet Christ's bones weren't ever found in any kind of search through the centuries (discovery channel and some others tried to pull it off, but didnt).

3. Majority rules. This isnt some statistical thing, its a fact. Many scholars today, and in fact scientists are converting to the faith because it makes sense. Unless your friend, pardon me, is an egotistical jerk- and thinks that all the billions of living, and billions and billions of dead are wrong, well thats just ignorant.

There is a book that may help you, a dialogue book, called 'Yes or No' by Peter Kreeft. I suggest you and your friend read it. Very powerful.

I pray for your friend, NOW SPREAD THE WORD!

I have very few- its hard to find any music in this modern time that doesnt require the lyrics- but for me Nine Inch Nails has a few good beats- in fact they have some songs on their website that are instrumental only for free download. I also enjoy a bit of classical music, but thats a gimme. Other than that I have some Weird Al for sanity's sake.

Okay- Im sorry but this post must be made, and I aplogize in advance for this.

POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl. Wasnt too bad, humerous, had a plot, a good movie and had an open ending, I liked it moderately and im a fairly tough critic.

POTC: Dead mans Chest. Er- okay, Jack was a bit more... un-manly lets say. Everyone was a pirate, all kinds of random people running on in, a sliver of a plot remained throughout and I was left a little let down knowing of the first movie... this was very bad- dropped the ball totally.

POTC: World's End. Well- I concluded i wouldnt go to theatres (2 years since I have now) since the 2nd movie, Im not joking. Part I dont have the funds and part I hated it. The third film held a bit more plot- had some humor- and was as smoothly executed as a criminal in 1500 with a blunt spoon instead of a gillotine. It didnt flow at all- I was utterly confused at times and really didnt like it. Please dont haggle me with this, "It takes some thought" or "Well maybe your not ready for this film" because I undertand its not exactly for me- but they had a good start, the last two killed it off.

Thank you for heaing what I have to say though. The first film was good.

At the time they were popular it is hard to say- I was a fan because it was 'hip' as you whippershnappers say. but looking back on it, the music sucked and I have questions concerning their orientation with each other (take that where you want to).

Then- maybe.
Now- with a blinding passionate hatred

I mainly care about the older anime- if you look at the new stuff- its either feudal, or hentai (which regretfully is wrong so I abstain from viewing). The older anime is a little more original and satisfying. But, the trends are always changing and by the time this is even sent it will have changed lol.

And no- I'm not here to insult any particular series- we're all anime fans here, right? (right!?)

Ya know what!? Blue, Pink, Red, Yellow(not to be confused with blonde), Green, Silver, Plaid- its all good.

After a while I just care that its not normal- blonde, brown, black ftl

For Anime:
Good looks to boot- then storyline, because I can look at beautiful art as much as the next guy- but if it has no overall plot... your probably doing something you shouldn't lol. After which- voices. The last few days I have noticed that voice acting can make or brutally massacre a good series.

For Manga:
Suprise suprise: good looks, simply, again, its the first thing you see. then I look for a decent balance of plot and humor, as manga tends to employ the 4th screen more often and is more humerous and thus sometimes better, but too much and you lose the plot of the whole series.

Ultamately it can sometimes be random or very precise- all up to you, GO FOR IT

About... 3 years. But I admit- I wasnt on the edge of my seat waiting for it, but all the same it was a bit frustrating... having a friend who could go to Japan and get it in the summer and me... waiting... and waiting...

Generally- artwork (beautiful women, good design, kickin' curves, well-excecuted art, its all the same to me) has a good impression and thus influence on which anime you view- but then do some research on it, because some friends and myself have judged by looks alone... and it got pretty gross really soon (some people go for that... thats... nice, but I like the way anime transcends art, sound, design, and plot into one symphony of perfection)

Certainly not! The Japanese voices and subtitles usually are best, for the sake of smoothness and accuracy. Listen to about 3 of your favorite anime shows in english and then in japanese and you'll hear the difference- dubs are convinient but not always best

Absolutely- I've had more virtual relationships than I care to say- but its a temptation that many succumb to eventually...

No worries- its been a while since I've been on too. Good to see ya back.
Ja mata ne!

I agree, 26 episodes is the magical number. *nostalgic* Back in 'da day when Tenchi Muyo and Outlaw Star were only 24 and 26 episodes long. Now Bleach and Naruto are in the triple and quadruple digits *sigh*

It just makes it tougher for people to jump into a series and finish it... 26 is magical, 100+ is a commitment.

Thank you all for your time, and thanks for the thread.

Its a toss up... between Melenium Earl, and that one dude who always does stuff overnight (SORRY CANT REMEMBER... BRAIN BEING SCATTERED). Melenium Earl is strangely happy and almost seems to have good intentions (I know it is a deception, but still, refreshing to see a character that is an antagonist and does his job with a smile, not a grin). The dude who does things overnight because I can sympathize with, and in most anime there is usually a character who does everthing or nothing, but it is nice to see how the creator throws out such personalities.

Yea, saw a few episodes and compared it to the manga, yea it is AWESOME (not the best, that is reserved), it also allows you to see some things such as the Gothic background better than the manga (considering that almost all manga is black and white, it can be hard to tell, but the anime has definite ambience). Funny too, Gothic and funny... is that possible... eh... works for me

Its a tough choice, probably Nine Inch Nails something (they rock), or Through the Night (Outlaw Star opening theme).

Yea, usually people who have reactions like that are insecure of themselves and require companionship like that. In this case, his is insecure, and is using you as a scapegoat... or something... I dunno I don't (and have never had one) have a girlfriend. Take your time like you said dude. Try to forgive him though, having that sort of relationship can cause undue stress and drama on people...

I would think it would be someone new... but I have no experience with this so it would depend on your friends and where you live and what you look in someone for...

Yes, video games are art. They require just as many steps as commonly associated artwork... and more. Besides, the video game must be consistent and even creates its own universe, to the graphics to the plotline to the programs- VIDEO GAMES ARE ART! Try and find something in a museum that video games dont incorporate. For example: proportion laws found in the Renaissance, try head proportion and body proportion... while moving... in a Warthog at high speed... oh yea, I went there.

P.S. Yes, but my situation was a bit different, I was playing one game and someone was playing another and criticized me of having bad choices and corrupting myself. For your situation- VIDEO GAMES STIMULATE PEOPLE, so if anything they help you, not as much as other activities, but movies and shows are useless- unless really good anime (which are always good)... so you are right. Oh yea, awsome name dude.

No, sorry, but if is any consolation I would like to be from Aisa.
